In partnership with FOTA

London, 10 December 2010: LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics, is auctioning 19 unique autographed prints from the 2010 LG Moment of the Year competition, including Lotus Racing driver Heikki Kovalainen’s winning Moment from the 2010 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX.

Kovalainen received an Autosport Award on Sunday 5th December after thousands of fans from over 150 countries voted for his Moment. Taking place in London, UK, the Autosport Awards recognise the highest achievements within motorsport each year, by drivers, cars and through innovative technology. The LG Moment of the Year was a new addition to the prestigious ceremony, run in partnership with the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) and voted for entirely by fans via www.lg.com/f1 over the past few weeks.

All 19 Moments are now available for auction, in the form of a unique autographed print, with proceeds going to F1 in Schools™, the global engineering competition aimed at students aged 9 to 19 years whose World Finals were backed by LG in 2010.

The auction can be accessed by clicking here* and is run by www.auctionforacause.org on behalf of LG and F1 in Schools. Bidding is open now for 10 days, closing on Sunday 19th December 2010 at 2359 GMT.

Andrew Barrett, VP Global Sponsorship for LG Electronics, said: “The LG Moment of the Year competition has been a great success once again this year and it’s been amazing to see fans pick Heikki’s courageous fire fighting Moment above all others. He is a great character and the photo depicting his Moment is stunning. I am thrilled to be able to auction each photo, with all the drivers taking part so kindly. We have had the likes of Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton and indeed Heikki sign their Moments and I hope fans have a great time bidding for their favourite from the year.”

Andrew Denford, Founder and Chairman, F1 in Schools, added, “We are delighted that LG is supporting F1 in Schools with this unique competition. LG came on board for this year’s F1 in Schools World Finals held in Singapore in September and it’s great to be building on this association with the LG Moment of the Year competition. As a not-for-profit organisation we rely on educational grants and commercial support to deliver F1 in Schools programmes in over 30 countries across the globe, so the contribution from the proceeds of the LG Moment of the Year competition will help to ensure we can continue with our work and host another exciting World Finals next year!”
